Post menopausal bleeding (PMB)
Post menopausal bleeding (PMB)
Post menopausal bleeding (PMB), i.e any bleeding after complete cessation of menstruation should never be taken lightly.
A woman aged 55 years came with PMB and was taken up for hysteroscopic guided biopsy three months ago… hysteroscopy revealed an endometrial polyp, endometrium showed evidence of hyperplasia. She was advised hysterectomy.
She failed to return for 6 months during which she waited for the bleeding to stop on the advice of her family members who gave her the idea that post-menopausal bleeding would ultimately stop.
When the bleeding did not stop she came back prepared for hysterectomy, The specimen showed a big fleshy polyp which on histopathology came out to be endometrial cancer.
