INTIMATE ISSUES IN ANTENATAL PERIOD
SEX DURING PREGNANCY
It is absolutely safe to have sex in pregnancy unless
your Gynecologist has told you not to.
Having sex in pregnancy does not hurt your baby
It is quite normal for you to have a change in the sex
drive in pregnancy… it is always better to have a talk about it with your
partner.
You may not find it to be enjoyable in pregnancy
particularly in the later months due to mechanical issues caused by the
enlarged abdomen.
Having sex or orgasms in pregnancy does not cause
miscarriage or early labor pains if your pregnancy is normal
You might feel some contractions after sex …do not
worry these are normal Braxton Hicks Contractions… they usually pass off on
their own. You may try some relaxation techniques if you feel uncomfortable due
to those contractions
When NOT to have sex in pregnancy?
If you have a history of bleeding or a low-lying
placenta and your doctor has asked you to avoid sex
If you have your water broken
If you have history of preterm labor
Or any other reason for which the doctor has put a
restriction
